The concept of Leaders in Performance was first developed after the inaugural Leaders in Football in 2008. Following a series of consultations with key stakeholders that attended, it was identified that several major topics and talking points at Leaders in Football 2008 could be further developed in a conducive environment by bringing together the most relevant and important people.
One of these areas was sporting performance and excellence, by bringing together the elite coaches, managers, sporting directors, technical directors, performance directors. Thus, Leaders in Performance was created.
On the 8th October 2009, alongside Leaders in Football, Leaders in Performance was launched. Bringing together 200+ senior international sports practitioners from the world of football, rugby, cricket, tennis, Olympic sports, US sports, and many more, this 1 day conference was themed around the major factors for sporting success. Presentations and panel discussions considered winning mentalities, athlete development, talent identification, mental and physical conditioning, nurturing talent, sports science, sports nutrition, and analysis of elite performance.
